Eastview's Semi formal

Eastview's Winter Wonderland Semi Formal ~ December 12th 2014

We had a month to get it ready, choreographies, ticket sales, posters, costumes, props...but we finally made it. It was called Euhpria, and the opening number was a song from Circe du Soleil and it was a perfect one to start our show: "Alegria, a joyous, magical feeling".

I cannot believe how brave I was to do a solo with flamenco music; I did not know if I had enough time to create the choreography, or if people would like it as much as I did. Fortunately, I had my own costume so I did not have to worry about making another one for my dance. I worked on it at home every night before going to bed and I think I did a great job.

Apart for my solo, I was involved in Bounce, a dance with a Bollywood theme, and the 70’s, with Mamma Mia and Funkytown songs. However, I was also in the opening number as a mask person in the audience, and in the finale. Both of them included all of Ms. Revellis’ 50 dancers. Overall, everything put together was really awesome.

Thanks to this Gala, I have grown as a dancer, student and person, and I know I did my best. I loved the last month preparing the gala and the final result. We have worked really hard and we finally made it possible. I would love to make something like this later and work with the same people I have worked with – I loved it! :)

Christmas is here !!

Ugly sweaters are awesome! But it is even better to go to an Ugly sweater Christmas party! We had so much fun with Emma's hockey team, playing hockey, eating Christmas food, playing games and cake fighting.

Next day was the day to pick up our Christmas tree. We went to a tree farm (yes, a place only with Christmas trees) and we could choose our favourite tree, cut it and take it home. It is seems easy but it is not!! We had to choose the perfect one, not big but not small, the perfect shape and perfect colour, with good trunk and branches, but we finally found it. Once at home the tree looks much better, with all the Christmas ornaments and lights.

Árbol decorado, luces de navidad puestas, regalos envueltos... everything is ready for Christmas :)

Let it snow

Who said in Spain that 10 degrees is cold? I laugh at them!
The winter is finally here and it has brought my first snowfall. The week seems to be cold, between -10 and -2 degrees. The funniest thing is that this is only the begining.

I love snow and cold weather!! But I'll tell you again at the end of march.

Remembrance day

Remembrance day, Tuesday November 11 2014

In my high school, we remembered all the 80 soldiers from Barrie fallen in the war. We went to a special assembly in the caf and we watched a video about Remembrance day and we heard some poems and the famous "In Flanders Fields".

Some days ago I didn't understand why some people were wearing poppies (amapolas) in their jackets, but then I found out that was related to Remembrance Day. It was really good to see everybody wearing a poppy and see how proud they are of their soldiers - their grandfathers. Poppies and Canadian flags everywhere - we should sometimes learn about other countries and see how they don't feel embarrassed of their country.

Let's we forget - Remembrance day

Happy Birthday Emma!

Emma, the little goalie of the family, turned 11 last Tuesday!!

She has been really excited for the last week and we surprised her with a cupcake breakfast. She blew her candles, that said "Emma" and we had the cupcakes.

That day, she had hockey practice so all her friends sang Happy Birthday to her and they had some cookies.

Yesterday, we had dinner in Mandarin, a Chinese buffet restaurant in Barrie and it was really good. We had Chinese food (and french fries and pizza) and Emma had a little cupcake because of her birthday, we had a really good night in family!!

Happy birthday Emma, hope your day was amazing, love you. :)

Let's go Blue Jays

First of all for the people who don't know about this, Blue Jays is a baseball team from Toronto, and it is of course the favorite team of my family, and mine also! Although they are not really good, we love them.

Friday September 26, my host family told me we were going to go to the city, Toronto, and I couldn't imagine we were going to watch a baseball game! We arrived at the Rogers Centre and everybody was dressed in blue, with a blue little bird on their hats and jerseys. Roger Centre, the stadium, is just below the CN Tower and that was so awesome!! It didn't rain so the stadium was open and everybody could see the tower while watching the game.

Blue Jays played against Baltimore Orioles and we won, they played really good. My favorite players are Bautista, who is the leader, and Encarnacion.
The whole stadium didn't stop screaming and clapping, singing songs and animating the team. There were really funny songs and the funniest part was seeing all the kids, and not only kids, raising their hands to try to catch the ball with their gloves.

There were people selling hot dogs, beers and snacks; blue jays hats, jerseys and everything you could imagine. There was also a huge screen that showed the game and focus on people so they got really excited when they appeared on the screen. When the game finished we went back home but we had the opportunity to see Toronto at night!

Just like I had seen on movies, that was such an awesome night!
