Happy Birthday Mar :)

March 10 was finally here. The countdown on my phone said 0 days left. I can't believe I'm finally 17 years old and that I'm so far away home.

My day started at 6am, as every other day, but we had cupcakes for breakfast where I blew all my candles. Once at school all my friends didn't allow me to go to my locker and they told me to have a walk by myself, they were decorating my locker!! It was awesome!! They used a Happy Birthday sign, streamers, balloons and a lot of pictures!! I loved it!! Thanks to Legs (whos coming to Spain this summer lol), Roser, Avery, Pitt, Brianna and Sai.

Then at lunch, Roser and I went to Tims to have Timbits, why not? It is my birthday!!

Roser came to my house after school cause she was going to stay over that night. My host mum drove us to Orillia where we had dinner with Natalia too. We went to Brewery Bay and we had a free huge cookie cause they said it was my birthday haha.

It was a really special day with family and friends, when a lot of of people from Spain found a minute to talk to me. It was really different to what I'm supposed to do in my birthday, but it was awesome, I had so much fun with all the people I love. Thanks :)

0 days left, sweet 17.

Like American movies, isn't it?

Huge cookie for free, all because we said it was my birthday haha :P

Cross country skiing

Last weekend while my host family was in a hockey tournament and my host dad was studying, I stayed at my friends house. Natalia, from Vigo, Heather and Earl. Being there is like being at your grandmas, I love going there and I have a great time with them!!

I arrived on Friday and left on Sunday. On Saturday we had a typical Canadian breakfast with bacon, scrambled eggs, peanut butter toast… sounds dangerous and amazing at the same time (suelen decir que lo que no mata, engorda, no?).
After that, Heather, Natalia and I went to Arrowhead Provincial Park, in Huntsville, about one and a half hours up north. It was an awesome place where we cross country skied.

At 6pm we left and arrived home just in time for supper. We had pizza and chicken wings, but after that we were supposed to have ice cream when they suddenly came with a birthday cake that said “Happy Birthday Mar”. I couldn't believe they actually knew my birthday, but that was not all; they gave me a birthday card with a gorgeous necklace!! I'm so thankful!! A family that is not your own thought of you and got you something to remember them in such an important date as my birthday.

Cross country skiing into the woods, gorgeous views, great experience, amazing people (snow flaked gently posing on my red cheeks haha). Couldn't ask for a better Saturday, surrounded by peace, nature and beauty of this awesome country.

Getting ready to leave

The trail was around 7km long

Fall and winter in the same picture. Love this country!!

Thanks to Natalia, Heather & Earl.

Barrie Colts night

Last Saturday night was a really good night. My family and i went to the Barrie Colts game, the hockey team from Barrie, the previous step to the NHL.

We were having tacos and burritos for dinner at 7:15pm when Emma said about this game. We didn't think much about it and bought five tickets for the game that started in 15 min. We finished dinner and we arrived at Barrie Molson Centre at 8 ish, just before the second period. The game was too long, we were done around 10pm. They played against Mississauga, and we won 5 - 2 !!

It was awesome, I really liked it!! I am used to see my host sisters playing hockey, but that was completely different. I just couldn't stop wondering how much time the players have been playing hockey in their lives. They skated like if they were running, that is for me the most difficult part in hockey. The used the stick as a third arm, and the goalies were amazing.
